The new welding gaiters and apron are designed to be worn on top of the operative’s existing Arc Flash PPE, to extend the lifespan of these garments by preventing damage from molten metal splashes.
The welding gaiters offer lower leg and foot protection from sudden flame exposure, molten splashes, sparks and heat. Meanwhile the welding apron provides full protection for the arms and chest, with a removable and adjustable lower portion to provide increased body cover, as desired.
Both garments are constructed from innovative Siloxane fabric, which encompasses an excellent mix of durability, dexterity and comfort. The fabric provides high molten aluminium and iron resistance, achieving levels D3 and E3 respectively in relation to the EN ISO 11612 standard.
Commenting on the launch of the new garments, Mark Lant, technical expert at ProGARM, said: “These products were initially designed at the request of some of our clients, however after receiving such great feedback, we decided to launch these to the wider market.
“These new garments are designed to not only protect operatives from potential burns whilst welding, grinding and cutting, but also to protect their existing PPE. We know from experience that many companies are forced to replace PPE garments regularly, as a direct result of damage from frequent exposure to molten metal, which in turns leads to compromised protection.
“These new welding garments will help to overcome this, as they are specifically designed to withstand the flames, molten splashes, sparks and heat caused by welding, therefore protecting the Arc Flash PPE beneath from any damage that would require the garments to be replaced, and ensuring full protection for the operatives.”
