The world’s leading wind industry expo and the WindEurope conference jointly form the Global Wind Summit


Hamburg, 20 September 2018 – On Tuesday 25 September the world’s leading expo for wind energy opens its doors. More than 1,400 exhibitors from 40 countries will present their innovations and services for the onshore and offshore wind industry at the Hamburg Messe fair site until 28 September. In nine exhibition halls, all international industry leaders and specialised suppliers to the entire value chain will be present. Taking place in parallel at the fair site, the global WindEurope conference will offer a highly qualified programme featuring more than 250 expert speakers who will cover current and future topics related to wind energy. Both of these top-ranking events jointly form the Global Wind Summit, the biggest and most important gathering of the wind industry worldwide. Numerous high-profile guests are expected to attend the Global Wind Summit, including energy ministers from various countries as well as the EU Commissioner for Climate Action & Energy, Miguel Arias Cañete.

For four days, the Hamburg trade fair complex will be the meeting place of energy experts from around the world. The event organisers are expecting about 35,000 visitors from 100 countries. WindEnergy Hamburg is the only global industry expo for both, the onshore and the offshore segments of the wind industry. The featured topics of the 2018 expo are Dynamic Markets, Cost Efficiency, and Smart Energy. In addition, the exhibitors expressly focus on reflecting all the key areas of interest for this highly innovative industry. Apart from wind turbines and rotor blades, the fair showcases electric components, logistics services, safety feature, financing and insurance services, innovative materials, and specialised products for offshore installations. The “Storage Tour” will guide visitors to exhibitors offering solutions for storing renewable energy. In the new Startup Area, young, innovative enterprises are provided with a special area for the first time at this world-leading fair as a launchpad into the global wind industry.

This year’s WindEnergy Hamburg is more international than ever before: About 50per cent of exhibitors hail from countries outside of Germany. What is more, companies from many different world regions, from Denmark to China, have joined hands to showcase their products and services in 23 regional and national pavilions. A wide range of networking opportunities as well as the Speakers’ Corner programme make the world’s leading wind industry expo an ideal platform for negotiating and completing business transactions, building business relations, and sharing information at a global level.

WindEurope conference in the exhibition halls

The world’s foremost onshore and offshore wind conference of the year 2018, hosted by WindEurope in parallel with the trade fair, likewise has a decidedly global horizon. More than 250 experts will offer their audience deep insights into the future of the wind industry. For four days, specialists from the business world, governments, science and other fields will discuss the current challenges and opportunities for wind energy. The conference is fully integrated into the trade fair, with the auditoriums located on the upper floors of exhibition halls B3 and B4.

WindEnergy Hamburg and Husum Wind

The Global Wind Summit will be held in Hamburg, the capital of the wind industry, from 25 to 28 September 2018: At WindEnergy Hamburg, roughly 1400 exhibitors from around the world will present their product innovations and projects. The world’s leading wind industry expo for the onshore and offshore wind industry mirrors the global market and its entire value chain. In parallel, WindEurope will hold the Global Onshore and Offshore Conference in the halls of Hamburg Messe. The world of wind energy gathers for the Global Wind Summit every two years in Hamburg. The Who’s Who of the German wind industry will be gathering at HUSUM Wind, its partner and the following year’s most important German wind trade fair, from 10 to 13 September 2019.
