Taking the strain

With the Conquest MB1 barge, and a working partnership that brings together an array of skills and a wealth of experience, Conquest Offshore are in a critical position
to push offshore installation to new depths. PES speaks to Jippes Huibregtse…

PES: Welcome to PES. Would you like to introduce the company and tell us a little about how you serve the wind industry?
Jippes Huibregtse:
Conquest Offshore is a young and dynamic company focused on the highest HSEQ standards for personnel and clients, while providing reliable heavy lift services. Conquest Offshore charters out and operates up to 1400 Mtons of heavy lift crane barges internationally.
We believe that with the right tool every job is possible. This is why we take the best of innovation and proven methods in preparing our floating equipment for multiple applications.

Our mission is to be an internationally recognised, resourceful and reliable heavy lift company providing the tools for construction, offshore wind installation, salvage and decommissioning: From challenge to Conquest!

Conquest Offshore is a Dutch joint venture between The Van Es Holding group of companies (e.g. Jack-Up Barge) and Zwagerman Offshore Services BV.
Conquest Innovates and opens doors to efficiency in Offshore Wind.

Dutch Conquest Offshore presents game changing advanced floating installation systems for offshore wind using the multi-functional crane barge ‘’Conquest MB1”.
Conquest Offshore, together with deugro Denmark A/S, has developed a highly efficient installation system for monopiles and transition pieces, supported by the engineering knowledge and experience of Temporary Works Design (TWD) and
Barge Master.

The 136 by 36 metre Conquest MB1 barge is the perfect tool to execute this kind of work. Three monopiles, and three transition pieces or up to 16 transition pieces can be stored on deck by the effective skidding system. Upending can be done on deck or floating. The challenge is the floating installation of the monopiles.
The specially designed Motion Compensated Pile Gripper (MCPG) is the key to this success. While hammering the pile, hydraulic cylinders actively compensate the surge, sway and heave motions of the barge to ensure the verticality within limits. The gripper and the relative good workability of the Conquest MB1 barge with its anti-heeling system (8000 m3 per hour), creates a game changer in the offshore wind industry.
