RMT Launches Renewable Energy Construction in Canada

RMT, Inc. (RMT), a leader in the engineering and construction of renewable energy facilities, is expanding its presence in Canada. The company, operating as RMT Canada Construction Inc., will provide site development support, engineering and construction services for wind and solar energy facilities.

“This is very familiar territory for RMT,” explains RMT President, Steve Johannsen. “We’ve been providing environmental and energy consulting services in Canada for over 20 years, including site development support for over 700 MWs of wind energy. Our clients and business partners are eager for us to bring our construction expertise to the Canadian renewable energy market.”

After entering the wind energy design/build market in 1996, RMT quickly became a top provider of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services in the U.S. Their EPC project pipeline currently includes over 420 MWs of wind energy and 340 MWs of solar energy, including the recently announced 18 MW Pilesgrove Solar facility in New Jersey.

“RMT has established itself as a ‘bankable’ firm that delivers projects on time and within budget,” said Frank Greb, RMT Vice President and General Manager. “With the design and construction of over 3,800 MWs of wind energy and 300 miles of high-voltage transmission lines under our belts, our team knows what it takes to build utility-scale renewable energy facilities and connect them to the grid.”

Members of RMT’s renewable energy team will once again participate in the Canadian Wind Energy Association’s (CanWEA’s) Annual Conference, November 1-3, in Montreal, Quebec. CanWEA reports that Canada is projected to end 2010 with 754 MW of new wind energy capacity. This will bring Canada’s total installed wind energy capacity to 4,073 MWs, enough power to meet the needs of over 1.4 million homes annually.
