Northern Offshore Services enters the Japanese Offshore Wind Industry and announces partnership with NYK Line

Northern Offshore Group (N-O-G), owner of Northern Offshore Services (N-O-S) and NYK Line has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate within the offshore wind industry, including the building and operating of Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV).

The objective of the MoU is to define the basic terms of a joint study to build and operate CTV’s in Japan.

The Japanese Offshore Wind industry is expected to launch within the next couple of years, and both NYK Line and N-O-S are keen to participate in this emerging market by launching a unique shipping company offering CTV’s.

”Northern Offshore Services has during the last couple of years performed an extensive research of the global offshore wind market and its opportunities. The joint effort with NYK Line will be a steppingstone for N-O-S to be a real player in the global offshore wind market and we are honoured that the esteemed company NYK Line has chosen to work with us.” said David Kristensson, CEO of Northern Offshore Services.

“We are very pleased to collaborate with Northern Offshore Group AB, which has expertise in offshore wind power projects in Europe. Making use of the NYK Group’s experience as a Japanese shipping company, together with our local network, we will promote renewable energy business in Japan and overseas, thus actively contributing to achieving the SDGs through the group’s business activities,” said Svein Steimler, corporate officer of NYK Group.
