Gulliver will travel

PES caught up with Jules Schelkens, Commercial Manager at Scaldis, to talk about how the company has evolved since it began in 1995. We found out about how technological advances have reduced installation and commissioning time and his thoughts on the future…

PES: Welcome back to PES Wind Magazine. Thanks for talking with us Jules, can you explain a little about your organisation and how you currently serve the offshore wind industry?
Jules Schelkens:
Scaldis was founded in 1995 and has an established reputation as a solid, reliable and customer-focused international marine offshore contractor for transportation, installation and marine heavy lifting operations in offshore markets.
In the early days Scaldis’ primary focus was on salvage related activities and civil works in ports. This has expanded significantly over the past two decades. While our core expertise remains marine heavy lifting, our vessels have supported many other projects. Scaldis is now active in distinct market sectors including:
Civil construction;
Oil and gas;
Renewables and environmental;
Deconstruction / Decommissioning
Salvage.
