GE opens two regional wind turbine service centres

Diversified infrastructure, finance and media company General Electric Company has opened two new wind turbine service centres in Albert Lea and Pipestone, Minnesota.

Making this announcement on Tuesday, the company said that these two centres expand its support for customers in the Midwestern US, which has the most potential for wind energy projects.

The centres will serve as headquarters for GEaEUR(TM)s highly trained wind turbine technicians in the region; helping to bring together a wider network of support and expertise to best meet customer needs.

GEaEUR(TM)s Pipestone office, which opened in December 2009, currently services an installed base of 573 GE 1.5 megawatt (MW) wind turbines.

The Albert Lea office, online earlier this year, supports an installed base of 507 wind turbine generators.

In addition, GE also plans to open a service centre in Iowa, which will provide support to 571 1.5-MW wind turbines in the area.

The company said that the regional service centres will be similar to GEaEUR(TM)s existing wind turbine service centre in Sweetwater, Texas.

GEaEUR(TM)s wind turbine service centres provide customers with performance warranties, operation and maintenance services and turbine upgrades
