Wind energy projects developer Edison Mission Group (EMG), a subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE: EIX | PowerRating), stated on Wednesday that its subsidiary Edison Mission Energy (EME) has started construction of its tenth wind project in Minnesota.

The 30-megawatt Community Wind North project represents a total investment of USD58m and is scheduled for completion by mid-2011. The project will be powered by 12 2.5-megawatt Clipper turbines producing enough power to meet the energy needs of about 10,000 homes.

Under a 20-year power purchase agreement, all of the electricity produced from the project will be sold to Northern States Power Company, part of Xcel Energy (NYSE:XEL).
