- ZF Wind Power has developed the most powerful gearbox platform for wind turbines in terms of torque density to realize significant reduction of LCOE.
- Use of standardized building blocks reduces maintenance costs, while offering potential for future upgrades of the installed base.
- ‘SHIFT 6k’ takes the platform concept to the next performance level and combined with new digital solutions will increase wind turbine availability.‘SHIFT 6k’: the newborn in the ‘SHIFT’ family
In a constantly evolving world our energy needs are growing and with it the importance of a reduced LCOE.
‘SHIFT 6k’, the new ZF Wind Power modular platform design, helps businesses to realize cost-effective turbines. Thanks to modularity, the initial development costs are significantly lower in comparison to a dedicated gearbox design. The concept allows customers to reduce the number of gearbox developments while offering maximum flexibility in turbine performance upgrades. In addition, the selection of the proper platform variant guarantees an optimization of the gearbox to site specific loads. The ‘SHIFT’ platform includes pre-designed and validated upgradability, which ensures rapid follow-up on changing market requirements.‘SHIFT 6k’ is the most powerful wind gearbox platform in terms of torque density, powering new generation turbines from 4.5MW up to 7MW and rotor diameters of up to 180 meters. In combination with ‘SHIFT 2k’ and ‘SHIFT 4k’, the ZF ‘SHIFT’ series now covers a broad range of wind turbine configurations in all wind classes.
