An array of services and an all-round package

Vincent Nürnberg, managing director, O.S. Energy, took time out from his busy schedule to talk to PES about their all-in project management service and their customised deep-sea vessels and the advantages this brings to the customer…

PES: Welcome to PES Wind magazine, it’s great to talk with you. Would you like to begin by explaining a little about the background of O.S. Energy and the importance of the offshore wind industry to you?

Vincent Nürnberg: Hi, yes thank you for the invite! The company O.S. Energy was founded in 2002 and was among the pioneers of the German offshore wind industry. The idea of the founder was to combine the supply of customised deep-sea vessels, with comprehensive project management.

O.S. Energy has been engaged in German offshore wind projects (OWP) since the beginning of the developments. Plus, in addition to the existing service portfolio we have recently started to offer subsea inspections, as well as salvage services, but our main focus still remains within the offshore wind sector.

PES: We see you have a vast array of services to wind farms; we would like to know more about these.

VN: Our core business is the services which comply with StUK4, environmental surveys required to develop and operate an OWP.

Along with this we offer salvage operations that serve the ‘cleanliness of the seabed’ requirement, which briefly means that nothing should remain on the seabed after the installation of an offshore windfarm. Lost items have to be recovered in an organised manner.

Taking the lessons learned from these operations into account, we have expanded our services and offer salvage solutions, which are not solely related to offshore wind parks.

Furthermore, our fleet of multipurpose offshore service vessels is highly flexible and can be used for various services and scopes, such as but not limited to the supply of cargo, equipment and spare parts, guard operations, accommodation services as well as the handling of anchoring systems and buoys.

Besides the above, we recently had a further addition to our portfolio. We developed an efficient system to conduct subsea inspections in OWPs as well as visual inspections for the topsides, utilising our vessels as working platforms, ROV’s and drones as well as divers if required

PES: Regarding the ROV and drone inspection services do you supply the equipment and operators or hire in?
