Stationary energy storage

PES catches up with Jacques Boppe, VP Corporate Development – Executive Office, Leclanché, to ask him about their wide range of turnkey energy storage solutions.

PES: Welcome to PES Solar/PV magazine. Thanks for talking with us. Would you like to begin by explaining a little about the background of your organisation and how you currently serve the solar industry?
Jacques Boppe:
Thank you, it’s good to share the latest update from Leclanché. The company has its headquarters in Switzerland. The tradition in battery energy storage dates back to 1909. Today, Leclanché delivers a wide range of turnkey energy storage solutions for homes, small offices, large industries, electricity grids, as well as hybridisation for mass transport systems such as bus fleets and ferries. Our integrated systems are mainly based on lithium-ion technologies.
We serve the solar industry with a very clear mission: to maximise the utilisation and integration of solar PV, as well as stabilise and secure the grid. With our large utility scale stationary solutions, we provide turnkey energy storage to integrate wind power generated electricity and solar energy which results in an important reduction in fixed cost and diesel fuel consumption. We stabilise the grid and really use renewable energies at their full potential. This is exactly the kind of systems we manufactured and installed in Graciosa, an island in the Azores, Portugal. Nearly 5,000 inhabitants have seen their energy mix going from 15% to more than 65% of renewable energies, solar and wind combined!
We also provide turnkey residential, commercial and industrial storage solutions, including the battery system and also the inverter so people can plug it and start using it.
So basically we help Solar/PV industry to add more value and security.
