Tidal Energy Experts To Outline Roadmap For Future Commercial Installations

Key industry tidal energy experts are set to map out their plans to deliver large scale installation projects for tidal energy devices in the Pentland Firth region at the 4th International Tidal Energy Summit and Awards this November.

Following the announcements earlier this year by The Crown Estate on project winners of the Scottish waters, tidal energy device developers are now ramping up their plans to prove devices in test sites to deliver successful installations by 2020.

As acknowledged recently by the Office of Renewable Energy Deployment at DECC, Emma Harding, Assistant Head of the Offshore Renewables Team notes that “the Marine energy sector in the UK is at a pivotal point in its development.”

Key project developers including Atlantis Resources Corporation, Marine Current Turbines, Hammerfest Strom and Voith Hydro Ocean Energy Technologies will be accompanied by key stakeholders as their outline their vision during a plenary session at the 4th International Tidal Energy Summit this year in London on November 23rd-24th.

Harding will also be contributing to the speaker line up and added “I’m pleased to be involved in the International Tidal Energy Summit this year as it’s a fantastic opportunity to hear about the latest developments in the tidal sector at this exciting time.”

With 350 industry professionals anticipated, the 4th International Tidal Energy Summit will focus heavily on delivering in depth presentations to address the major challenges the tidal sector faces.

Delegates are invited to attend sessions on: Best practice tidal financing Overcoming environmental obstacles in site assessments and permitting Streamlining engineering solutions for marine energy deployment Technological and site development innovations to achieve successful installations When asked about the popularity of the event, organiser and Director of Tidal Today Abbie Badcock said, “The tidal energy sector is at a critical stage of pre-commercial development as companies refine their business plans to offer affordable electricity generation. We are proud that the International Tidal Energy Summit can act as a conduit to encourage stakeholder engagement and business development in this exciting industry.”
