TESVOLT delivers high-voltage storage systems around the globe for 9 cents

Storage system comparison using new performance indicator LCOS available on company’s website

Wittenberg, 4 December 2017 – TESVOLT has begun delivery of the new TS HV 70 generation of high-voltage storage systems, which store energy even more efficiently than before. To enable installers to compare different storage systems reliably and transparently, TESVOLT is also now offering an LCOS calculator on its website. This can be used to calculate and compare the actual costs per kilowatt hour stored (levelized cost of storage, LCOS) – making it the very first online tool to offer such a clear and comprehensive comparison. For TESVOLT’s high-voltage storage systems, the calculator gives an LCOS of 9 to 10 cents per kilowatt hour.

New high-voltage storage system increases cost efficiency

TESVOLT has adjusted various parameters to make its TS HV 70 high-voltage storage system even more efficient and, as a result, even more profitable. The system’s discharge capacity has been boosted to as high as 75 kilowatts, and customers can choose to install 14 or 16 modules. Thanks to its increased capacity, the high-voltage storage system achieves a particularly low LCOS of 9 to 10 cents per kilowatt hour stored.

LCOS calculator brings greater transparency to the storage system market

The abbreviation LCOS stands for levelized cost of storage, which refers to the cost of storing one kilowatt hour in a battery storage system including battery inverter – without taking into account production costs, which are included in the LCOE (levelized cost of energy), for example. This makes the LCOS one of just a few indicators that can be used to reliably compare the profitability of different storage system models.

To enable specialist partners to access this tool, thereby ensuring greater transparency in the storage system market, TESVOLT is now offering the LCOS calculator alongside the storage assistant and the peak load assistant on its website. The relevant information for TESVOLT products is already stored in the tool’s database, while the details of other storage systems can be manually entered using data sheets in order to calculate and compare them.

So we’ve decided to be completely transparent when it comes to profitability. After all, alongside the right size and flexible expansion options, profitability is the most important factor in the decision to invest in a battery storage system.”


TESVOLT specialises in commercial battery storage systems. The innovative company from Lutherstadt Wittenberg produces storage systems with state-of-the-art prismatic lithium battery cells from Samsung SDI, based on nickel manganese cobalt oxide. TESVOLT storage systems function just as well at low voltage as at high voltage, and can be connected to all energy producers:  sun, wind, water, biogas and combined heat and power – on-grid and off-grid. All storage systems are produced at TESVOLT’s manufacturing facility in Germany.
TESVOLT was awarded the Hugo Junkers Prize by the German Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt for its battery management system. As of 1 August 2017, the company has an additional presence in Berlin, with a new office at Friedrichstrasse 191.
