Suntrace receives contract awards from World Bank Group

Hamburger consultancy firm to carry out feasibility studies, site analysis and measuring campaigns in Africa and Asia

Hamburg, 22.05.2017. The Hamburg based consultancy firm Suntrace has received six contract awards from World Bank Group during the last six Months for the realisation of international feasibility studies, site assessments and resource measurement campaigns. The awards solar and wind projects in Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Libya and Vietnam. The projects will run for a period of between one to two and a half years. Suntrace specialises in large-scale solar projects, and its services ensure secure investment, successful project development and optimised yields as a result of optimised plant design.

In Bangladesh, Suntrace is carrying out a feasibility study for a solar and wind project with an overall capacity of 100 megawatts on behalf of Power Cell (part of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Natural Resources). Suntrace will also support the project until award.

Commissioned by the International Finance Corporation

In Ethiopia, the International Finance Corporation, a part of the World Bank Group that specialises in funding private enterprises, has commissioned Suntrace to provide technical advice for the Scaling Solar Ethiopia project. This includes site analyses for several photovoltaic power plants with an aggregate capacity of up to 500 megawatts and technical advisory during the procurement process until awarding of the projects. In Libya, Suntrace has been mandated to assist the World Bank to develop a roadmap for future energy supply.

Suntrace will also be carrying out solar and wind measurement campaigns as part of three other commissions at a total of nine locations in Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Vietnam.

On all six assignments, Suntrace will be working with both local and international partners.

Irradiation analysis, investment advice and technical concepts from a single provider

Suntrace is not only specialised in providing advice for the technical implementation and financing of solar projects, but also irradiation measurements, site analyses and engineering. For these applications Suntrace has developed the HelioScale solar resource measurement equipment series, which will be supplied for the resource measurement campaigns in Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Vietnam.

“We are delighted that we were able to win the trust of World Bank Group on the basis of our proven experience in developing and advising solar power plants coupled with our competitive proposals”, says Suntrace managing director Boris Westphal, adding: “With our analyses, studies and measurements, we support our clients to develop a sustainable energy supply”.
