SOLARWATT in-roof solar panel wins 2019 German Design Award

Dresden, 30 October, 2018 – The German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung)  has awarded SOLARWATT the 2019 German Design Award for its EasyIn in-roof solar panel. The glass-glass panel, which can replace normal roof tiles, was awarded in the “Excellent Product Design” category. “As a premium manufacturer, we want to offer our customers superior design in addition to technically mature products. More and more homeowners want something special and place increasing value on aesthetics,” says SOLARWATT CEO, Detlef Neuhaus.

The roof-integrated EasyIn solar panel convinced the jury not only with its design but also with the special cost-saving benefit for customers. For anyone planning a new house or tackling a roof renovation, EasyIn is a cost-saving alternative to an on-roof installation. The panels are mounted directly on the roof battens and replace conventional roofing tiles. This means fewer roof tiles need to be purchased overall . “Our in-roof panels are not only attractive, they are also extremely durable and reliably generate clean solar power for decades. If you can protect your wallet and the environment at the same time – so much the better!” says Neuhaus.

The solar roof tiles, the size of a standard solar panel, have been in production since 2011 and since 2017 as the highly robust glass-glass variety. As electricity-generating roof coverings, they complement the product portfolio of both electricians and roofers who want to meet special customer requirements.

Second award in a row for SOLARWATT

This is the second time this year that the German Design Council has awarded products from the Dresden-based photovoltaic systems provider: in June, the SOLARWATT MyReserve battery received the 2018 German Innovation Award.

The German Design Award has been presented annually since 2012 and is one of the most recognized design competitions worldwide. Every year the high-calibre jury honors exciting entries from the fields of product and communication design, all of which in their own way are pioneers in the international design landscape. The 2019 German Design Awards ceremony will take place on February 8th, 2019 as part of the “Ambiente” trade fair in Frankfurt.
