SolarEdge enabling inverter commissioning via SetApp phone application

With smart phone applications being used to make nearly every aspect of our lives easier, from finding a taxi, getting directions, and communicating with friends, SolarEdge is bringing the same ease and convenience to inverter installation and commissioning with its new mobile-friendly SetApp.

Activating and configuring a SolarEdge inverter can now be done directly through a smartphone using SetApp mobile application. All the information installers need is in the palm of their hand. This means the LCD display screen is no longer needed and has been removed from new SolarEdge inverters! Since a smartphone or tablet communicates directly with the inverter through built-in local Wi-Fi, there is no need for an internet connection on site.

This also means that future upgrades are easier as SetApp automatically updates the inverter firmware when the installer visits the site. If multiple inverters are connected, only one inverter needs to have the firmware updated and it will automatically update the other inverters. LEDs at the bottom of the inverter provide a visual status indication — signalling if the system is producing energy, whether the inverter is communicating with the monitoring platform, and indicating any system errors. Installers can download SetApp here.

SetApp is compatible with the following inverters:

  • Three phase inverters with synergy technology
  • Three phase inverters SE12.5K-SE33.3K
  • Three phase inverters SE4K-10K
  • Single phase inverters with compact technology – Extended version
  • Single phase inverters with HD-Wave Technology

SetApp support for SolarEdge smart energy solutions and StorEdge solutions is expected to be available in March — the firmware updates will be automatic.
