The strategic collaboration provides highly efficient energy storage solutions for residential and commercial applications – simply smart connected
September 6th, 2018, Germany – BYD Co. Ltd., the world’s largest manufacturer of rechargeable batteries, announces the extension of the collaboration with German inverter specialist KOSTAL as the companies form a strategic partnership. Both companies share the goal of providing high quality and highly effective storage solutions to the European and global market to support the adoption of renewable energy utilization for residential and commercial applications. The new strategic partnership was sealed today at BYD’s company headquarters in Pingshan, Shenzhen,China on September 6th.
Since the start of the partnership in 2017, KOSTAL has lined-up BYD’s Battery-Box lithium storage solution, for the use with the PIKO inverter line and have later expanded the offering with their latest product lines such as the PLENTICORE plus. The combined system of the highly flexible modular battery solutions and battery inverters can be used for both commercial and residential applications. Both companies have worked closely together in assuring the compatibility of their solutions as well as on joint channel and marketing initiatives.
With the new strategic partnership the companies are now planning to expand their successful cooperation to partner in the joint development of specifically bundled solutions which address the needs of their customers offer end-to-end solutions for their energy storage demands.

“BYD’s Battery-Box systems offer both commercial and private users immensely flexible and efficient storage options – for small and larger, on- or off-grid, low and high volt applications,” said Christof Kiesel, Product Manager for PV inverters and storage systems at KOSTAL. “We have started offering their Battery-Box HV, which was the first direct high voltage solution on the market, as a bundle with our PICO inverters last year, which turned out to generate a high interest in the market. Since then we have been working successfully on expanding the joint offering, including solutions with our latest inverter product line PLENTICORE, and will continue to do so with joint developments under the new strategic agreement.”
