BayWa r.e. secures mandate from Good Energy to operate & maintain 30 MW solar portfolio

Milton Keynes and Chippenham, 9 August 2017: BayWa r.e., a leading global renewable energy project developer and service provider, has been selected to operate and maintain six solar farms owned by Good Energy, a generator and supplier of renewable electricity to British households and businesses.

Bringing together two leading businesses in the UK renewable energy market, the long-term service contract will see BayWa r.e. providing a comprehensive range of operation and maintenance services across the portfolio. Spread over the South and South West of the country, the solar farms have a combined capacity of 30 MW, which is enough to supply around 7,500 UK homes with green energy.

Tess Sundelin, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Operation Services Limited, commented on this latest success for the business: “Following a competitive tender process, we’re delighted to be entering into this long-term partnership with Good Energy – one of the true pioneers of the UK renewable energy market.”

Sundelin added: “The UK O&M sector is evolving rapidly as the market looks for providers who can deliver performance and professionalism for the long term. At BayWa r.e. we operate with the clear aim of earning and keeping our clients’ trust, which we know is the cornerstone of both our growth and success over decades to come. Our proactive technology-driven approach, responsible and safe site management, and ability to leverage the global resources and financial strength of the BayWa Group, are all part of what helps us deliver value for Good Energy and our other clients.”

The Good Energy contract win follows the recent opening of BayWa r.e.’s new Milton Keynes office, which itself forms part of an ambitious programme of ongoing investment in BayWa r.e.’s UK operation services business.

BayWa r.e. currently services over 700 MW of large-scale solar and wind farms in the UK, and is expecting significant further business growth in 2017. Globally, BayWa r.e.’s operation services division operates over 2.8 GW of solar and wind assets.

Antoine Khalife, Strategy Partner to the CEO at Good Energy, commented: “At Good Energy we are committed to working with our partners to power the choice of a cleaner, greener future together. Ensuring our solar plants are, at all times, effectively maintained and operating at peak efficiency will contribute towards achieving our goal.
