Senvion crosses 2 gigawatts cumulative installations in France

Hamburg/Paris: Senvion, a leading global manufacturer of wind turbines, has reached two gigawatts installed capacity in France. Senvion crosses this milestone, with the installation of 26 Senvion MM82 turbines at the Sambres wind farm, owned by RES, located in the Occitanie region . The wind farm has a total rated output of 53 megawatts (MW) and supplies enough annual energy to supply over 17,600 three-person households with electricity.

The company is also set to achieve another record this autumn with the installation of the largest rotor in France with five 3.0M122 machines at 89 metre hub height at the Eoliennes de Quatre Chemins wind farm in Coupéville in La Marne in the Grand Est region. The large rotor diameter is adapted to low wind speed sites, making this an ideal turbine for the site. The contract was signed in the first half of 2016 with customers Noria and Quadran.

Jürgen Geissinger, CEO at Senvion, says: “Crossing this milestone demonstrates how, after 14 years, Senvion remains a major player in the French wind market. We are looking forward to continuing to serve the present and future needs of our customers and contribute to the success of the energy transition in France. The installation of the first 3.0M122 in France, the largest rotor to be installed in the country, shows that the Senvion product portfolio is ideally suited to the range of wind conditions in France.”

Olivier Perot, Managing Director of Senvion France, adds: “We are extremely proud of this achievement. I am grateful to the Senvion team who made this success possible and to all our customers who have placed their trust in us and our product offering since 2002. Our innovative and flexible approach is a key strength in our business relationships and this is shown by our recent announcement of Senvion’s collaboration with EolMEd for the construction of four Senvion 6.2M152 in the French Mediterranean Sea, for the first floating pilot wind farm in France which is intended to be installed and commissioned in 2020. This demonstrates the innovative and pioneering approach we are committed to and I am looking forward to an exciting future ahead for Senvion in France.”

Senvion was established in France in 2002 and currently has over 1000 turbines in operation, from the former MD series to the current MM and 3.XM series. Senvion in France employs 220 people, with 13 service centres. The company will be opening an additional new service centre in Frévent, in Hauts de France region, before the end of the year, with additional openings to come in 2017.

Senvion is exhibiting at stand D50 during the Colloque National Eolien in Paris on 13 and 14 September in Parc Floral de Paris.
