Songa Offshore Places Large Order At Semco Maritimes Hanytangen Dock

One and a half month after the acquisition of the dock facilities at Hanøytangen, Bergen, Semco Maritime now wins the first of four potential orders for preparation of newly constructed rigs from operator Songa Offshore.

With the order for preparation of the newly constructed Songa Equinox, Semco Martime now has the first of four potential rig orders ready for the dock facilities at Hanøytangen, Bergen, which the Esbjerg-based group acquired one and a half month ago. As main contractor, Semco Maritime won the order in close cooperation with drilling and subsea specialist company PSW GROUP, which will service the rig form the company’s own facilities at Mongstad base.
Songa Equinox was delivered to Songa Offshore Tuesday from the Daewoo Shipyard in South Korea. From here, the rig is now embarking on an extended trip to Bergen to be finally prepared for rig operations at the Norwegian offshore fields.

Songa Equinox is the first of four category D-series semisub rigs, which have been developed by rig operator Songa Offshore and Statoil. According to the plan, the 116×97 meter large Songa Equinox is to be operational at the end of the year in the Norwegian Troll field.
