Atkins has been appointed by PowerChina Huadong Engineering Co. Ltd (HDEC) to design the offshore substation platform at State Power Investment Corporation’s (SPIC) 300MW Binhai South Phase 3 offshore wind farm in the Yellow Sea. Working collaboratively with HDEC, Atkins will be part of helping China to grow a self-sustainable domestic offshore wind industry and to realise its renewable energy ambitions. As one of the first British companies to work on a Chinese offshore wind farm, bringing a wealth of experience from its role in helping the European offshore wind industry to mature, Atkins’ scope covers ground engineering and structural work for the offshore substation topside and jacket foundation. Hamburg/Melbourne: Senvion, a leading global manufacturer of wind turbines, has signed a Delivery Partnership Agreement with RES Australia and its project partners for the 116-turbine Murra Warra wind farm in Victoria in a consortium with Downer and is now part of Senvion's conditional order book. The Delivery Partnership Agreement is for the early works which are currently underway and is a precursor to financial close of the project. The wind farm will feature the 3.7M144 turbine type, which is being designed for this project. This product extension is currently being developed and added to the Senvion portfolio for other projects. The fruit of a ground-breaking WFSV build partnership between Aluminium Marine Consultants (AMC) and Mainprize Offshore Ltd will be on the quayside (berth VB32) at Seawork International this year. With unique features such as a dedicated three-point mooring system, fuel transfer system and a draft of only 1.4m, the 23m WFSV MO4 has been designed and built to operate in shallow water conditions and take windfarm service vessels to the next level. “We chose AMC because of its flexibility and the company’s attention to detail and workmanship, coupled with its willingness to meet the tight deadlines the client required,” said Bob Mainprize, manging director, Mainprize Offshore Ltd. He pointed out that from the keel being laid up to the handover, the build time for the MO4 has been less than nine months. This has meant a build time saving of almost four months reducing build finance cost and risk. “This means that MO4 will start to pay back four months earlier than any other builder can offer,” Mr Mainprize added. MO4 is fitted with twin Caterpillar C32 diesel engines driving fixed pitch propellers that gives the vessel a service speed of 26 knots, even when fully loaded.

Guetenbach, 12 June 2017. RENA Technologies GmbH (Germany) and AIKO Solar Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (China) cooperate in the field of p-type crystalline silicon solar cell technology. RENA supports AIKO’s transfer to passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) technology on mono- and multicrystalline silicon and the two companies have agreed to cooperate in the field of plated front side electrodes to replace costly printed silver pastes. AIKO Solar Energy is currently migrating its production to PERC technology and takes advantage of the flexibility of RENA’s production equipment. Both the alkaline texturing equipment “RENA BatchTex” and edge isolation equipment “RENA InOxSide+“ allows tuning of the processes to achieve the desired surface morphology for the manufacturer’s PERC products. AIKO is fabricating both mono- and multicrystalline silicon solar cells with passivated surfaces and recently also launched its bifacial cell product line using monocrystalline silicon. “The RENA products allow us to easily adjust the processes to meet the technical requirement of the corresponding cell structure: we need different surface conditions for our different products. Elisa Mikkolainen, 50, M.Soc.Sc. (Econ.), MBA, has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Meriaura Group. She will be responsible for maritime logistics as well as technical and crewing management. She will begin in her new position 17 July 2017. Elisa Mikkolainen has wide experience in shipping, mainly with chemical tankers but also with dry cargo.  Latest she held the position of Managing Director at Crystal Pool Ltd from 2010 to 2016.
