LERRI Solar is a fully owned subsidiary of Xi'an LONGi Silicon Materials Corp., the world’s largest manufacturer of monocrystalline silicon wafers. RENA Technologies will deliver a large number of production tools for alkaline texturing and junction isolation for a production capacity of more than 2 GW of monocrystalline silicon solar cells, supporting the continued growth of LERRI Solar’s production capacity. RENA BatchTex texturing tools enable LERRI Solar to exploit the benefit of high throughput and IPA free alkaline texturing on a compact equipment footprint. Two of the wind farms are situated in Germany's northernmost state of Schleswig- Holstein, while the other three are to be erected in Lower Saxony. Installation of all five projects, comprising anywhere from one to eight of these gearless units each, is to be completed by the spring of 2017. The Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo) in Cleveland, Ohio has appointed international engineering and operations support services contractor Offshore Design Engineering Limited (ODE), part of the DORIS Group located in the U.K., as the engineering representative for Icebreaker Wind, a 20.7 megawatt offshore wind project in Lake Erie, and the first freshwater offshore wind project in North America. The appointment is the latest development in a three-year relationship between ODE and LEEDCo, the regional non-profit corporation that has proposed this six turbine wind demonstration project located 8-10 miles off the shore of Cleveland in Lake Erie.  LEEDCo,, is partnering with Fred.Olsen Renewables USA, and has received over $10 million from the U.S. Department of Energy, with an additional $40 million in federal funding contingent on meeting future milestones. Icebreaker Wind will provide the electricity needs for 7,000 homes. Revolutionizing Offshore Wind Measurement Capabilities in Massachusetts Hinesburg USA, October 11th, 2016:  High-fidelity, hub-height wind measurement has arrived off the south coast of Massachusetts thanks to a newly installed WINDCUBE® Vertical Profiling Lidar. Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), working with AWS Truepower of Albany, New York, has installed the WINDCUBE at WHOI’s Martha’s Vineyard Coastal Observatory (MVCO), located two miles south of Martha’s Vineyard in the Outer Continental Shelf. Funding for the installation was provided by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) as part of its Metocean Initiative, designed to advance the planning and permitting of offshore wind energy in the region while reducing cost. Renewable NRG Systems supplied the Lidar and will perform biennial maintenance services from its headquarters in Hinesburg, Vermont.
