The wind service operation vessel (SOV) for the Dutch Gemini project has been christened "Windea la cour" today in Hamburg. The vessel is to set sail to start operations at the Gemini offshore wind power plant this summer. Siemens has supplied 150 wind turbines with a capacity of 4 megawatts each and will service the offshore wind power plant for a period of 15 years. The specially designed, purpose built SOV "Windea la cour" is part of Siemens' advanced offshore wind service concepts developed to increase the uptime of the wind turbines. Innovative offshore service logistics help to bring down the costs of offshore wind power.The SOV "Windea la cour" was built by Ulstein Verft Norway and has been chartered by Siemens for operations and maintenance support from Bernhard Schulte Offshore. In addition to being the end user of the SOV, Siemens also supplied a key system aboard the vessel. A new guidance document has been published by the Marine Transfer Forum. "Offshore Personnel Transfer by Crane - Best Practice Guidelines for Routine and Emergency Operations" aims to support an international market which performs over 5 million passenger transfers every year. Developed by EnerMech, DNV GL, Reflex Marine and Seacor Marine the guideline benefits from a range of expertise, which reflect the key roles in ensuring safe and efficient marine transfer operations. The development of the guideline involved a period of detailed industry consultation. International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA), Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and Damen Shipyards also made key contributions, ensuring it reflects best practice and is relevant to the growing marine renewable energy sector as well as traditional offshore sectors. Simon Hatson, chair of IOSH's Offshore Group, said: "We welcome the publication of these new guidelines. The offshore industry is one in which workers face many inherent risks, but all workers, irrespective of their industry, should be covered by a culture of care.

The Belgian students consider Jan De Nul as their potential employer, that much is clear. A national investigation by the international research bureau Universum has shown that Jan De Nul Group is Belgium's third most attractive employer (after Google and Microsoft, and before BASF and BMW Group), in the sector of engineering, natural sciences and IT. In all, 7,525 students from 20 universities and university colleges from 103 different branches of study were questioned about potential employers from the sectors B2B/B2C, Engineering/Natural sciences/IT, Humanities and Social Sciences/Free Art/Education, Health care/Medicine and Law. It is also remarkable that Jan De Nul Group finished in the top 50 in all categories. The results of this research are based on perceptions and opinions of students. They arise from the efforts the companies made to invest in their brand name and employer branding. London, 29 June 2016: Cubico Sustainable Investments ("Cubico"), a global leader in renewable energy and water investment, has announced that it has acquired ten UK operational solar projects totalling 65MW from the UK's largest fully integrated solar developer, British Solar Renewables ("BSR"). As a result of this acquisition, Cubico's portfolio now comprises 29 assets located across eight countries, with a total gross capacity of 1,900 MW installed across a breadth of technologies (wind, solar and water infrastructure).David Swindin, Head of EMEA at Cubico said: "This acquisition adds to our growing portfolio of renewable energy assets in the UK, which is now our second largest market globally. The customer is Clyde Windfarm (Scotland), LTD, owned by SSE, Greencoat UK Wind and GLIL. This is the sixth service agreement Siemens has signed with majority shareholder SSE since July 2015. The Clyde wind farm is comprised of 152 SWT-2.3-93 wind turbines and is capable of powering 300,000 average homes in the UK. The project has been serviced and maintained by Siemens since beginning commercial operation in 2011 and is located near Crawford in South Lanarkshire, Scotland.Under terms of the agreement, Siemens will provide long-term service and maintenance services for an additional 15 years with its SWPS-300W maintenance agreement. Facilitating India's transition towards low carbon economy by development of offshore wind powerNEW DELHI, 29 June 2016 - The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) launched a new report today: "Supply Chain, Port Infrastructure and Logistics Study" for offshore wind development in the states of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu in India. This study is a significant step forward in preparing a roadmap for offshore wind power in India by the GWEC led FOWIND consortium.The key supply chain elements of the offshore wind sector are assessed along with a preliminary evaluation of companies entering the offshore wind sector.
